Those who pay close attention to Hollywood are often fascinated by "cursed" projects that just can't seem to get off the ground despite having all the pieces in place. Sometimes it just seems impossible that someone wouldn't push projects like these through. Funny enough, it might be true that despite its general ridiculousness, Entourage got this aspect of Hollywood right: no matter who's writing, directing, or starring, a film isn't all the way made until it's actually in front of the audience. Until then, anything can happen.

Here’s some harsh truth that I’m going to lay out for you straight away: you’re not that interesting. Chances are you work a shitty, low-paying job, and your life is overall about as interesting as dog shit smeared on a white bathroom wall. Your personality is as bland as every other 18-35 year old man or woman in the same situation as you and you may or may not have chlamydia. However, don’t worry, because there’s a shortcut you can take to instantly become interesting: pretend to enjoy wine more than is humanly possible.

As it usually tends to do, Game of Thrones delivered big time on episode 9 of its current season, with an all out war between smug-weasel-given-human-form Ramsay Bolton -

- and the man that even the North Pole would describe as “excessively Northern”, Jon Snow.

It was a glorious moment of clean, unblemished satisfaction, which is a very odd thing for Game of Thrones to do. But it felt earned this time around, given the non-stop turbine of misery Ol’ Jonny Boy has been through these past 6 seasons. And yet through it all he has kept his dignity, remained a good man, and most importantly, cemented his place atop the vast majority of people’s favourite GoT characters lists.

But why is that? Why exactly DO so many people gravitate towards Jon Snow, who isn’t exactly the most charismatic of stallions or multi-layered of characters, in a show overflowing with both?
