A woman who went to the V Festival in 1997 has today made a failed attempt at taking her own life after seeing the line up for the festival on Teletext. Rose Tintedspecs of County Durham told The Melody Maker "I went on to the text on the telly to check the weather and find out how my premium bonds were doing when I saw that there were no bands that I used to like on the card at all. I was apoplectic with rage so I decided to shoot myself in the face."
The gunshot blew out the majority of Rose's brain but she survived and is out of hospital after only one day. When asked about her suicide note reading 'I can't believe this, I can't live in a world without Pulp headlining V!" Rose told BBC Today "I don't really remember writing it to be honest. The doctor has told me that I lost most of my brain but I don't feel any different except now I really fancy a drink in the Wetherspoons."

Roses doctor Dr A Sian told us "She's pretty much in the bottom 1% of the world in terms of intellect now, the signs will become apparent very soon, she will most likely need full time care for the rest of her life."
